Musical Mateys Spring Concert

5 Little Speckled Frogs

This week in Kindergarten and 1st Grades we read a book about FROGS, played a FROG instrument, and sang songs about FROGS!  We endED the class watching this video and then singing 5 Little Speckled Frogs.  Its so much fun!

Boomwhacker Fun!

The school year is winding down (just a few weeks left of school!) so we are doing lots of fun things in Music Class!  Here are 4th graders playing Boomwhackers to the song Sunny from the YouTube channel Musication!

Music Teacher for the Day!

This little lady won the Silent Auction at Spring Fling (PTO Spring Fund Raiser) a few weeks ago.  Her prize?  Get to hang out with Mrs. Stahl & be Music Teacher for the Day (along with a matching shirts!)!

We had a great time and she even got to go with a few other Silent Auction winners to eat lunch at Subway!

I think she is a born teacher!!

Recorder Karate Black Belts!

I am super proud of these 7 students who worked hard and earned their Black Belt in Recorder Karate this 9 weeks!

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

This week, Kindergarten and 1st Grade have been playing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star on the Hand Bells.  

It took a lot of concentration and they did AMAZING!

We are back to work in the Music Room.  This week our Word of the Week is Conductor.  A conductor is the person who leads the orchestra, choir, or band.  We are watching these videos in class.

Musical Mateys Christmas Concert!

The Musical Mateys performed their Christmas Concert last week.  The did a SUPER job!!  Check out this video of their performance!

We also traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas and sang at the 

Arkansas State Capitol.

And, ended the day with a trip McDonald's and a little caroling!

Welcome Fall!

October is half way through!  We have had some super fun things going on in Music class!  Here are a few highlights:

John Philip Sousa - Musician of the Month

This month we have been learning about John Philip Sousa! 

He is our Musician of the Month.  

Here is the Listening Map we watch for the song Stars & Stripes Forever that he composed!

We have done tons of activities with his music.  This is a cup passing activity to his song El Capitan.

Back to School!

This class did SUCH an awesome job playing Old MacDonald on their recorders that we decided to video it!  This is the 5th song in Recorder Karate and it is quite a challenge!

It's March 1!  And, that means spring is almost here!

Next week is Spring Fling and I'm super excited that the Musical Mateys will be performing at 5:45 in the cafeteria while you are eating your chicken dinner!

NYC

Over the weekend Mrs. Stahl took a trip to New York City!  She had sooooooo much fun.

On Sunday morning I went to The Brooklyn Tabernacle and saw the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir!!!

This is in Central Park.  That fountain back there (there isn't any water in it in the winter time) is from the movie Enchanted!  Where she sings the song "How does she know that you love her!"  The fountain is at the very end of the song!

Then I went to the Metropolitan Opera and saw Tosca (an opera)!  It was sooooooooooooo good!!!

Oh!  And, the Statue of Liberty is there too!!

Hoop Groups

Last week in music class we did Hoop Groups!  It was a lot of fun and we got to play a ton of different instruments.  

Each hoop contained a group of instruments that were alike.  Hoop 1 had drums, hoop 2 were metal instruments, hoop 3 were wooden instruments, and hoop 4 were shakers.

Ice Skating!

I hope you had a great Christmas!!  We are back at school and learning tons!

Last week we learned about Elvis (check out the tab above for fun videos) AND Ice skated!

It was SNOW much fun!

First we discussed the Winter Olympics (coming up in February) and then watched a short video of the 2014 Gold Metal Ice Skating Routine!

Then, we used paper plates as Ice Skates and tried out some moves of our own!
