Welcome Back!

I hope you had a great Christmas break!

We are back to work in the Music Room.  This week our Word of the Week is Conductor.  A conductor is the person who leads the orchestra, choir, or band.  We are watching these videos in class.

Recorders!!!

This week in music class 3rd and 4th graders started learning recorders!  This is Mrs. Stahl's favorite thing that we do all year!!  

A recorder is a small instrument that comes in a variety of colors, sizes, and styles.

Tempo

This week our Word of the Week is Tempo!  Tempo is the SPEED of the beat.  We are watching these videos to help us learn about Tempo!





We are also playing a passing game called Pass This Shoe.  We pass the beanie babies (not shoes. . . ) to the beat.  Then, the tempo changes and we pass at a different tempo.

And, then we do the Chicken Dance.  It also has changing tempos!

It was a SUPER fun week in Music Class studying TEMPO!!!

This week our Word of the Week is Major Scale!  We will be learning about the notes of the Major Scale by watching the video below:

Instrument Families

This week we are talking about Instrument Families!  

We have seen and heard several different instruments including the saxophone, trumpet, trombone, flute and guitar!



We have learned a song for each of the instrument families:  Woodwind, Brass, String and Percussion!

Trepak Parachute

This week (Wed. - Frid) classes did a parachute activity to Trepak from The Nutcracker Ballet.

Mwa Ha Ha

This week we are using BOOMWHACKERS for the first time!  They are loads of fun!!!
