Brass Family!

This week we are learning about Brass Instruments!  Brass instruments are long tubes that are curled up.  To make a sound, you must "Buzz" your lips into the mouthpiece.

Mrs. Land plays guitar!!!!

Did you know that Mrs. Land can play the guitar?!?!

Last week she stopped by my room and picked up my guitar and started playing!   I was surprised! So, I grabbed my phone and started recording!

It's been a really long time since I've made a post!!  So, here is an update on what has been going on at Dover Elementary!

4th grade has begun Recorder Karate and they are doing great!

January is Elvis Month!  K-3 are learning about Elvis!!  He's a favorite around here.  Check out the Elvis tab above for our favorite videos!

This week in 2nd-4th, our Word(s) of the Week are Whole Note, Half Note, Quarter Note, and Eighth Note.  We are watching this video to help us better understand these notes!

Recorders!!!

This week in music class 3rd and 4th graders started learning recorders!  This is Mrs. Stahl's favorite thing that we do all year!!  

A recorder is a small instrument that comes in a variety of colors, sizes, and styles.  

Here is a snippet of Mrs. Young's class playing their very first song!

Tempo

This week our Word of the Week is Tempo!  Tempo is the SPEED of the beat.  We are watching these videos to help us learn about Tempo!

We are also playing a passing game called Pass This Shoe.  We pass the beanie babies (not shoes. . . ) to the beat.  Then, the tempo changes and we pass at a different tempo.

And, then we do the Chicken Dance.  It also has changing tempos!

It was a SUPER fun week in Music Class studying TEMPO!!!
